The biggest difference of "LTO Ultrium 6 Data Cartridge" (LTO6) from the past generations is that this time Fujifilm selects to use Barium Ferrite magnetic particles instead of using the current metal particles. Barium Ferrite can maintain its magnetic characteristic even when particle size is small; resulting in an LTO6 cartridge with better coercivity and frequency characteristic compared to the past generation cartridges. In addition, Fujifilm LTO6 cartridges with Barium Ferrite have a long archival life (over 30 years) and show good performance when used with older drives that have aged from repeated use.
